~ Disneyland Premieres 55 years ago ~

Walt Disney's very first television series, Disneyland (named after his yet to be completed park) premieres on ABC with the episode "The Disneyland Story." About 30.8 million American viewers tune in.

~ Dumbo Turns 68 ~

Disney's 4th animated feature film, Dumbo has it's world premiere 68 years ago today. The 64-minute film will win the Oscar for Best Score for a Musical Film.

~ Jungle Book Turns 42 ~

Disney's 19th animated feature film The Jungle Book has its general release 42 years ago today. It was the last animated feature personally supervised by Walt Disney (who passed away during the film's production). The song "Bare Necesseties," written by Terry Gilkyson, will be nominated for an Academy Award.

~ The Mickey Mouse Club Turns 54 ~

Disney's second TV series Mickey Mouse Club is launched on ABC. It is a daily series featuring the talents of 24 kids known as the Mouseketeers.

~ The Walt Disney Family Museum opens in San Francisco, California today ~

The interactive museum, in San Francisco’s Presidio (a former U.S. military facility that is now part of the Golden State National Recreation Area) focuses on the life and times of Walt Disney

~ Epcot turns 27! ~

EPCOT Center at Walt Disney World has its grand opening with
more than 100 television crews from all over the world covering
the event and it is Disney's third theme park.

~ Walt Disney World turns 38! ~

38 years ago today, Walt Disney World welcomed it's first guests in Orlando, Florida. This is Walt Disney's second theme park.
